Understanding the Diagnosis:

You have just walked out of the doctor’s office and the diagnosis is Alzheimer’s. Don’t think there is nothing to do at this moment, because mom isn’t that bad, yet. I am here to tell you, that the moment you know the diagnosis – is time to start the planning.

I refer to Alzheimer’s as being like a light switch that goes on and off in the brain. You never know really when it will flip on and off. Hours, days and months can go by and you might not see much of a change. But it is there, and you don’t want to be caught off guard. You don’t want to be in crisis mode unnecessarily. The time to take control is immediately.
